Living Environment: These terriers are good for apartment living and country life. They do all right without a yard. Remember this breed is sensitive to extremes in temperature.
Exercise: This dog needs minimal exercise. Regular walks are good as long as they are not too lengthy.
Care and Grooming: The short, smooth coat is easy to maintain, brushing and bathing only when necessary. You should also gently wipe their face with a damp cloth and carefully clean around their eyes when needed.
Health Issues: These dogs are prone to heart and skin tumors. They may experience breathing difficulties when overexerted in cold or hot weather.
Life Span: Boston Terriers live for 15 years or more.

Boston Terriers Puppies - Boston Terriers are compact dogs with a short muzzle, docked tail, erect ears, and a smooth coat that can be of brindle, white, black, or brown color, or mixed. The breed is intelligent and strong-willed. It moves gently and easily.

According to the official AKC standard, the Boston Terrier should weigh from 15 to 25 pounds. The dog should be overall balanced and should not appear coarse. Boston Terriers have a square head, large rounded eyes that have an alert expression, and small erect ears. The ears are usually cropped. However, uncropped ears are also possible.

Boston Terriers Pictures - Boston Terriers belong to one of the few dog breeds that are native to America. The Breed has many nicknames, such as the "American Gentleman" and "Boston Bulls." Boston Terriers were originally bred to fight in dog fighting pits in the Boston, Massachusetts's area. The Boston Terrier results from a crossbreed between Bull Dogs and Bull Terriers.

The American Bull Terrier Club was organized in 1889 by several owners of these "Boston Bulls." They bred and showed their dogs as Bull Dogs and Bull Terriers. The name of the club was changed to the Boston Terrier Club of America, since it could be argued that the "Boston Bulls" were neither Bull Dogs nor Bull Terriers.

Boston Terriers Breeders - Boston Terriers should be paid a special attention to not only because of their wonderful qualities, but also because of their history. The Boston Terrier is the first breed native to America. The early stock appeared in England as a cross between the English Bulldog and the White Bull Terrier. Later the species were brought to the States and crossed with other Terriers.

Naturally enough, the Boston Terrier characteristics changed with time. Originally the dog weighed about 44 pounds. Its purpose was pit fighting until the bloody sport was banned. "Round heads" or "Bull Terriers" started to take part in exhibitions.

Boston Terriers - Boston Terriers, also called Boston Bulls, are referred to as utility dogs. They serve mainly as companions and are good with children. Easy to train and look after, Bostons are good for apartment life. A house will do the best for these warm-loving sociable dogs.
